Archbishop Andres B. Quow
A people without a sacred memory, is a people adrift, vulnerable to every new wind of doctrine and every wave of cultural pressure. My beloved, I, Sir Andres B. Quow, your Prelate, urge upon you the spiritual discipline of holy remembrance. Throughout Scripture, God commands His people to build altars of stone, to institute feasts, to recite their history—not as a exercise in nostalgia, but as a bulwark against faithlessness. “Remember how the Lord your God led you,” Moses implored Israel. When we forget His past faithfulness, we panic in our present crisis. Our devotion, therefore, must include a deliberate curation of God’s victories in our personal lives and in our collective journey as a church.
This practice is an act of warfare against despair. When the enemy whispers, “God has forgotten you,” we are to answer with the evidence of our personal history: “I remember the time He provided, the day He healed, the moment He restored.” We are to tell our stories to our children, to our new believers, to one another. As your Presiding Prelate, I consider it a primary duty to help you hold the narrative of this diocese—to recall the miracles of our founding, the trials we have overcome, the seasons of revival we have tasted. These memories are not museum pieces; they are living promises that the God who acted then is the same God who reigns now. Let us be a people of the Ebenezer stone, declaring, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.” Let our worship services be punctuated with testimonies. Let our private journals be records of His goodness. In remembering, we do not live in the past; we arm ourselves for the future, confident that the unwavering character of our God is the thread that stitches our yesterday, today, and forever into a tapestry of grace.
