THE DECEPTION OF POLITICIANS

Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ,

Today we turn our hearts to the wisdom of Scripture found in Proverbs 6:16–19, where the Word of God declares: “These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto Him.” This passage is not given to condemn us without hope, but to awaken us to righteousness, integrity, and holy living in a time where truth is often traded for convenience.

The Lord identifies what grieves His Spirit: a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift to run into mischief, a false witness who speaks lies—and the seventh, which is an abomination, one who sows discord among brethren.

We are living in a generation where deception has become normalized, and dishonesty is often disguised as strategy. Even among leaders and those in authority, we see how lies and manipulation can be used to gain power, influence, and control. But the Word of God remains unchanged. No position, no title, and no system of man can override the standard of truth established by the Almighty.

God hates a lying tongue—not because He seeks to punish, but because lies destroy trust, fracture communities, and corrupt the soul. When leaders, whether in government or any sphere, operate in deceit, they lead people away from justice and righteousness. As believers, we must not conform to these patterns, but stand firmly as vessels of truth.

The seventh, which God calls an abomination, is especially serious: sowing discord among brethren. This speaks directly to division, confusion, and intentional disruption within the body of Christ. The enemy thrives in division, but God calls us to unity, peace, and love. We must guard our words, our actions, and even our intentions, ensuring that we are not instruments of division but ambassadors of reconciliation.

Let us examine ourselves today. Are we walking in truth, or have we allowed subtle forms of deception to enter our lives? Are we building unity within the church, or contributing to division through words, attitudes, or hidden motives?

In a world filled with political deception and moral compromise, the church must rise as a beacon of integrity. We are called to be light in darkness, truth in the midst of falsehood, and peace in a divided world.

Let us commit ourselves anew to God’s standard. Let our speech be honest, our hearts pure, and our actions aligned with righteousness. For the Lord delights in truth, and He blesses those who walk uprightly before Him.

May we be a people who not only hear the Word but live it—rejecting deceit, embracing truth, and fostering unity in the body of Christ.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
