There is nothing like a conviction in your life. My brothers and sisters in the Lord let us thank Him for bringing us through the year 2017 into this new year of blessings and abundance. We will forever be grateful for the things that Thou has bestowed upon us. For all those things we are willing to leave the past and the things that weigh updo and lighten our load through You and Your Blood.
One thing I do as I am writing to you: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 3:13-14 I believe the only past we should have if the Jesus Christ of yesterday. The reason is simple for He is the same today and will be forever.
One of the main hindrances that keep people from becoming what God wants them to become is their past. People often struggle to overcome past hurts and patterns of behaviour. Yes, that is so true because we do not want to let go. Have you ever heard the saying “My mother was a ___________, I was born a ________________ and I will die a __________. Well, that is too much past and I can assure you that none of that will make it to heaven. That is the main reason why Jesus came to us. It was to restore to us the things that have failed us in the past. Don’t let your past distract you. Your past is past. Today is a brand-new day.
Maybe you’ve had some setbacks. Maybe you’ve been knocked down dozens of times. That’s normal. You can still get back up and keep going. That’s what winners do: they get back up and run for the finish line, no matter how many times they stumble. They’re focused. The church may seem to be failing and lost ground, but in essence, where two or three are gathered in His Name, Jesus will show up. There were many that followed Jesus in His earthly ministry and when His mission was coming to a close only the twelve disciples remained and one was to betray Him. You cannot look back at the numbers that were with you. If the branch is not bearing fruits cut it off and some even withered and died. Sometimes they still are attached to the tree with absolutely no life. But how can you grow if you don’t read, you don’t take up any nourishment even though you claimed to be planted by the rivers of living water. Your connection to the water supply is blocked with the things of the past.
Consider talking out your memories with a friend who will listen and not judge. I am so glad that I have a few people I can talk to and share the past and get rid of them. As I mentioned in a previous message ” YOU ARE MY STRONG TOWER“. Ask them to pray for you. Then, if you feel stuck on something in your past, think about how God sees you now: He forgives your past, calls you His beloved, and promises to complete the good work He has begun in you. This is your time to shine and as we see the end in sight let us hold fast to that which is good.
Don’t let your past keep you from your future. You are a new creation in Christ, and God has called you to a heavenly prize.
