PLEASE GOD FIRST

HH, Sir Godfrey Gregg D.Div

Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. Galatians 1:10 NIV

Some Christian men make the big mistake of being people pleasers ahead of being God pleasers. When we go out of our way to make God’s truth more palatable by speaking only “partial truth,” or when we fail to answer faulty thinking about the Gospel message because we’re afraid of ridicule or rejection, then we’ve fallen into the trap of trying to please people first

In today’s verse, which the apostle Paul addressed to a Galatian church that had virtually abandoned the message of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ alone, he stated that he was 100 percent committed. to pleasing God by speaking the truth of the Gospel, even though. it would put him at odds with those who had preached a false message to the Galatian Christians.

Paul set an example we should all follow when he chose to be faithful to God rather than seek the easy way out as he sought to direct people toward the truth of salvation by grace through faith.

Father, You have called me to glorify You by serving people. As | do that, help me to always remember that | am to .. please You first in everything | do and everything | say:
