I. PREAMBLE
It is with hearts bowed in reverence, and spirits uplifted in gratitude unto Almighty God, that The Mystical Order of Spiritual Baptist Inc. — known also as The Mystical Order Ministries International — pauses in solemn reflection to honour the life, legacy, and unwavering consecration of Her Beatitude, Lady Janet McClean, who served this noble Order as MATRIARCH for a period of ten distinguished years. She has since crossed the threshold of eternity, and in her passing, the Church has lost a pillar of strength, a shepherd of souls, and a torchbearer whose flame, though extinguished in the natural realm, continues to illuminate the corridors of this sacred institution.
In the Year of Unity 2026, anchored in the proclamation of Psalm 133:1, it is fitting and proper that we lift her name, celebrate her witness, and ensure that the generations who shall follow shall know the woman who walked faithfully before God and before this people. Her Beatitude Janet McClean was not merely an officer of the Church; she was an embodiment of its spirit, a living testament to its highest ideals, and a Trail-Blazer of the Spiritual Baptist Faith in every true and meaningful sense of that hallowed title.
II. THE CALLING AND THE COMMISSION
The office of Matriarch within The Mystical Order of Spiritual Baptist Inc. is not conferred upon the unprepared or the unwilling. It is a sacred calling — a divine commission — rooted in the ancient traditions of the Spiritual Baptist Faith and carried forward by those whose hearts have been tried and whose spirits have been proven in the fires of consecrated service. Her Beatitude Janet McClean was such a woman. She answered the call with humility, accepted the commission with grace, and fulfilled the mandate of her office with honour.
Her appointment to the office of Matriarch was both a recognition of her spiritual maturity and an acknowledgement of the depth of her devotion to the Faith. She bore the responsibilities of her office with a steadfast resolve that spoke not of human ambition, but of a woman whose motivations were rooted entirely in the will of God and in the service of His people. She led by example, ministered with compassion, and governed with the wisdom of one who had drunk deeply from the well of the Spiritual Baptist tradition.

For ten years, Her Beatitude, Lady Janet McClean, rendered service as Matriarch of The Mystical Order of Spiritual Baptist Inc. — ten years that were marked by sacrifice, consecration, and an uncommon devotion to the mission and vision of this Order. In those years, she was not merely a figurehead. She was a mother to the flock entrusted to her care, a counsellor to the brokenhearted, an intercessor for the weary, and a standard-bearer for the dignity and decorum of the Spiritual Baptist Faith.
Throughout her tenure, she stood as a bridge between the sacred heritage of the Spiritual Baptist tradition — rooted in the rich soil of the Caribbean diaspora spanning Trinidad and Tobago, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados, England, St. Croix, and beyond — and the ever-evolving needs of a growing and global ministry. She understood that the Faith must not be preserved merely as a relic of the past, but must be proclaimed as a living and dynamic force in the present age.
Her service was not confined to the administrative corridors of the Order alone. Her Beatitude Janet McClean was present in the mourning ground of prayer, active in the Five Points of Fellowship, and grounded always in the Threefold Foundation that undergirds the doctrine and practice of this sacred tradition. She was a woman of the Word, a keeper of the sacred flame, and a faithful steward of all that was placed within her charge.
IV. A TRAIL-BLAZER OF THE FAITH
The designation of Trail-Blazer is not bestowed casually within the annals of The Mystical Order of Spiritual Baptist Inc. It is reserved for those singular individuals who, by the quality of their walk, the integrity of their witness, and the scope of their contribution, have blazed a path forward that others may safely follow. Her Beatitude, Lady Janet McClean, earned this distinction fully, for she did not merely walk the road that others had charted; she broke new ground, cleared obstacles from the path, and left behind a trail luminous enough for the next generation to navigate by.
She demonstrated that leadership in the Spiritual Baptist Faith is not the exclusive province of the bold and the vocal alone, but belongs equally to the quiet and the steadfast — to those who serve without seeking recognition, who give without counting the cost, and who love the Church of God with the whole of their being. In this, she set a pattern and a precedent that this Order will carry forward as one of its most cherished inheritances.
The Spiritual Baptist Faith has been shaped by countless such women across the centuries — women who endured the suppression of the Shouter Prohibition Ordinance of 1912 in the Caribbean, who fought for Liberation Day, and who refused to allow the fires of the Spirit to be quenched by the hand of any earthly authority. Her Beatitude, Lady Janet McClean, stands in that noble lineage. She is of the company of the freedom fighters and the faith-keepers, and her name shall be written in the book of the Order’s honoured dead with all the reverence that is her due.
V. HER ENDURING LEGACY
The legacy of Her Beatitude, Lady Janet McClean, is not measured in titles held or offices occupied, but in the lives she touched, the souls she nurtured, and the spirit she deposited within the life of this Order. She leaves behind a heritage of faithfulness that must be honoured not only in spoken tribute, but in lived example. The truest memorial to any servant of God is a community that continues to walk in the light that they helped to carry.
The Mystical Order of Spiritual Baptist Inc. commits itself, in the spirit of the Year of Unity 2026, to honour the memory of Her Beatitude Janet McClean by continuing the work to which she gave her best years — the work of building a Church that is rooted in truth, clothed in love, and ever pressing toward the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. She ran her race. She kept her faith. She finished her course with grace. And the Order she served so faithfully is forever the richer for her years of consecrated toil.
VI. A TRIBUTE FROM THE PATRIARCHAL OFFICE
From the Patriarchal Office of The Mystical Order Ministries, I, Patriarch and Presiding Prelate Sir Godfrey Gregg, D.Div., under the Supreme Leadership of Patriarch and Chief Apostle Sir Darrindel Hoyte-Johnson, speak for the whole Order when I say: we salute Her Beatitude, Lady Janet McClean. We salute her courage, her consistency, and her consecration. We salute the years she gave, the prayers she prayed, and the love she poured out unreservedly upon these people and this ministry.
To those who mourn her passing, we offer the comfort of the Word: “Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.” (Revelation 14:13, KJV). Her Beatitude Janet McClean has entered into her rest, and her works — her faithful, enduring, glorious works — do indeed follow her.
