Day 11 – The Fear of the Lord

Day 11 – The Fear of the Lord

Scripture: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.” (Proverbs 1:7)

Children, when the Bible speaks about “the fear of the Lord,” it does not mean that you must be afraid of God as if He wishes to harm you. Instead, it means showing deep respect, reverence, and honor toward Him. To fear the Lord is to recognize that He is holy, powerful, and worthy of our obedience. Many young people think knowledge starts in books alone, but the Bible tells us true knowledge begins with honoring God.

When you respect God, you will also learn to respect His Word, your parents, and those He has placed in authority over you—teachers, elders, and pastors. Every instruction given to you in love is part of God’s way of shaping your life. If you ignore His Word, you will stumble; but if you listen, you will walk in wisdom.

Today, ask God to help you walk in reverence. Pray: “Lord, teach me to honor You in all I do. Let me listen carefully when Your Word is taught. Help me to grow in wisdom and live in a way that pleases You.” When you begin each day with the fear of the Lord, your foundation is unshakable.
