“In Unity There Is Strength”

Day 18 – April 2: Unity in Suffering
“That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.” – Philippians 3:10
Unity is relatively easy to maintain when circumstances are favourable, the budget is balanced, everyone is healthy, and growth is steady. But true unity is forged and tested in the fire of suffering. It’s when trials come that we discover whether our unity is genuine or superficial.
The phrase “fellowship of his sufferings” is profound. Fellowship means partnership, sharing, participation. When one member of The Mystical Order Ministries suffers—whether through illness, loss, financial hardship, or spiritual attack—we all suffer. When we genuinely bear one another’s burdens, we experience a depth of unity that prosperity alone cannot produce.
This is where the body of Christ should shine brightest. The world has support groups and counselling services, but it doesn’t have the supernatural love and spiritual strength that flows through a unified church. When a member is going through cancer treatments, we surround them with prayer, practical help, and encouragement. When someone loses a job, we assist until they’re stable. When a family faces a crisis, we rally around them.
But suffering also reveals where our unity is weak. If we’re only connected at a surface level—showing up for services but never really knowing each other—then when a crisis hits, people suffer alone. Building strong relational unity now means that when trials come, we have a support system in place.
Moreover, when we suffer together and come through stronger, it becomes a testimony of God’s faithfulness and our genuine love for one another. It demonstrates that our unity isn’t just words but reality.
Prayer Focus: Pray for those in our ministry currently facing trials, and ask God to use their suffering to strengthen our bonds of unity.
