THE POWER OF APPRECIATION

HH Sir Godfrey Gregg D.Div

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough”. — Oprah Winfrey

Gratitude means “the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return the kindness.”

Appreciation is the joy felt on seeing the good in something or someone. It is a mental state that imparts happiness and motivates you to act. However, it’s anything but touchy-feeling.

Developing an attitude of gratitude improves your well-being dramatically.

Being thankful — for what life throws at you — has many positive effects according to science. It opens the doors to more relationships, improves both your mental and physical health, reduces your ‘fight-or-flight’ reactions, helps you sleep better and increases your self-esteem.

Life doesn’t owe you anything.

Appreciation means stop taking everything for granted.

The Buddha discussed four things we can feel admiration and appreciation towards:

  1. the good within yourself
  2. the good within others
  3. the blessings of being born human
  4. the many advantages and opportunities you enjoy

Appreciation is something powerful. It doesn’t just reflect on you but, most importantly, on the receiver. Even something more mundane as email response rates are affected by gratitude. “Thank in advance,” “Thank you,” and “Thanks” are the three most effective words to end an email.

There are some people that are not willing to accept any form of appreciation. There is always a problem or some minute error. It has to be perfect for their measurement, even though they do not match the “yardstick” they use to measure themselves. I know little things count and I have learned over the years to say thank you with some kindness. Oh, how I remember the ungratefulness of the nine lepers that never returned to say thanks. Only ONE accepted the kindness of our Lord and he returned to tell our Lord Thanks. Can you do that today?

During the month of October, I honour quite a few people and showed my appreciation on behalf of The Mystical Order and our Patriarch and Chief Apostle. I did it because you are valuable in my eyes and I want the world to know that you are very important to me and this ministry. That gesture has opened the floodgates to this website http://www.mysticalorderinc.org and our readers have grown by hundreds. I want you to know that you are a part of the process.

However, a simple oversight was made and I was chastised for making such an error, unlike the others. I am human and the workload is tremendous, but I am thankful to God for the energy, strength and courage to come to your circle daily. I appreciate the goodness of the Lord and all the brethren who message me showing their appreciation and thanks.

Give appreciation with respect and kindness.
