THE NEW ARCHBISHOP’S ROLE

1. Head of Day-to-Day Church Functioning
   The Archbishop oversees the daily operations and administration of the Church, ensuring activities and ministries function smoothly.
2. Successor to the Patriarch
   He serves as the immediate successor whenever the Patriarch’s office becomes vacant and assumes the Patriarch’s role in his absence.
3. Advisor to the Patriarch
   Acts as a key advisor on all matters pertaining to the Church, collaborating closely with the Patriarch on leadership decisions and strategic direction.
4. Leadership of Clergy
   He is the chief of all Bishops, Cardinals, Apostles, Abbesses, and Queen Abbesses, overseeing their conduct and performance, and holds the authority to discipline clergy under his jurisdiction, subject to Patriarchal approval.
5. Authority to Issue Decrees
   Has the power to declare decrees after consultation with the Patriarch to guide the Church’s governance and spiritual directives.
6. Administration and Coordination
   Ensures proper coordination of all church administration to best serve the people of God entrusted to his care.
7. Custodian of Church Records and Seal
   Maintains and safeguards all important Church documents and archives.
8. Selection and Ordination of Clergy
   Responsible for the appointment and ordination of ministers and clergy who meet the Church’s requirements and qualifications, under the Patriarch’s approval.
9. Oversight of Doctrine
   Ensures that Church doctrine is taught and adhered to faithfully across all congregations to maintain theological clarity and unity.
10. Ecumenical Relations
    Represents the Church in ecumenical and interfaith relations, fostering cooperation with other Christian denominations and religious groups.
