THE CONFIDENCE OF THE CALLED

Guided by the Patriarch and Chief Apostle His All Holiness, Sir Darrindel Hoyte-Johnson

Beloved, many in the body of Christ struggle with a sense of inadequacy, feeling unworthy of the high calling of God. We look at our own flaws and past failures and question whether God could truly use us. Yet, the Scriptures resound with a different truth—a truth that liberates us from the prison of self-doubt. The Apostle Paul, who considered himself the “chief of sinners,” wrote with unwavering confidence: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13).

I, consistently teach that our calling is not based on our own qualifications, but on God’s sovereign grace and power. When God called Moses, he focused on his own speech impediment. When God called Jeremiah, he protested his youth. But the Lord’s response is always the same: “I will be with you.” (Exodus 3:12). This is the foundation of our confidence. It is not self-confidence, but Christ-confidence. Our ability rests not in our own strength, but in the infinite power of the One who dwells within us.

This truth frees us to step out in faith. We are not called to be capable; we are called to be available. God specializes in using the weak things of the world to confound the wise (1 Corinthians 1:27). Your perceived weakness is merely the platform upon which God’s strength can be most gloriously displayed. When we feel insufficient, we are in the perfect position to rely wholly on His sufficiency. His grace is, and always will be, enough for us, for His power is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Therefore, walk forward this day in the confidence of your calling. Do not dwell on your shortcomings, but fix your eyes on His perfection. Do not rely on your own understanding, but trust in His limitless power. You are a vessel, chosen and ordained for good works (Ephesians 2:10). Step out in boldness, not because you are able, but because He who called you is faithful, and He will do it.

Amen.
