Day 4 – March 19: Breaking Down Dividing Walls
“For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility.” – Ephesians 2:14
Christ came to break down walls—walls of ethnicity, social status, past failures, and religious pride. Yet how often do we, His followers, rebuild what He demolished? We construct walls of judgment, preference, tradition, and territorialism, then wonder why we lack the power and presence of God we desperately seek.
In every community of believers, invisible walls exist. Sometimes they’re built along generational lines—the older members resistant to change, the younger members dismissive of wisdom. Other times, they’re economic, educational, or cultural. These walls may be subtle, but their impact is devastating. They fragment the body, dilute our testimony, and grieve the Holy Spirit who longs to move freely among a unified people.
The solution is not to pretend these differences don’t exist, but to see them through the lens of Calvary. At the cross, every dividing wall lost its power. In Christ, there is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female—all are one. This doesn’t erase our uniqueness; it subordinates our differences to our shared identity as children of God.
Today, I invite you to ask God to reveal any walls you’ve built in your heart. Perhaps you’ve distanced yourself from certain members because they’re different from you. Perhaps you’ve allowed offence to harden into a barrier. The good news is that the same Christ who destroyed the ultimate dividing wall can demolish any wall in your heart—if you’re willing to let Him.
Prayer Focus: Ask God to reveal and remove any walls of division in your heart and in our church family.
