Day 10 – March 25: Forgiving to Maintain Unity
“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” – Ephesians 4:32
Nothing destroys unity faster than unforgiveness. It’s like a poison that seeps through relationships, hardening hearts, erecting walls, and creating factions. A church can have perfect doctrine, powerful worship, and generous giving, but if unforgiveness festers in the hearts of its members, its effectiveness is severely compromised.
Offences will come—Jesus Himself said so. When imperfect people gather together, misunderstandings happen, words are misconstrued, expectations go unmet, and feelings get hurt. The question is not whether offences will occur but how we will respond when they do. Will we nurse the wound, rehearse the offence, and allow bitterness to take root? Or will we choose the path of forgiveness?

Forgiveness is not saying that what happened was acceptable. It’s not pretending you weren’t hurt or that the offense didn’t matter. Forgiveness is a choice to release the person from your judgment and to entrust justice to God. It’s deciding that unity in the body of Christ is more valuable than your right to hold a grudge.
Consider how much God has forgiven you. Every sin, every rebellion, every failure—covered by the blood of Jesus. We who have been forgiven much must extend that same grace to others. When we refuse to forgive, we essentially say that our offense is greater than any offense we’ve committed against God. That’s a dangerous position to hold.
Today, if the Holy Spirit brings to mind someone you need to forgive, don’t delay. Make the choice to release them. You may need to have a conversation to resolve the issue, or you may simply need to release it in prayer. Either way, don’t let another day pass with unforgiveness weakening our unity.
Prayer Focus: Ask God to reveal any unforgiveness in your heart and give you grace to fully release those who have hurt you.
