FROM THE DESK OF THE ARCHBISHOP AND APOSTOLIC HEAD
Sir Dr Godfrey Gregg
A blessed day to all my beloved in the Lord and to Our Patriarch, Matriarch-Elect. Queen Abbess and Cardinal Greetings. My beloved ministers, brothers, sisters and well-wishers we praise the Lord for all the blessings we have received at Your hands. I thank God for this day Thou hast given to us. It is a special day I have to minister again to you saying “How sweet the Name of Jesus sounds.” This morning I want to talk to you about the book of Solomon on the subject:
THE COALS OF JEALOUSY
Song of Solomon chapter 8 and verse 6 Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death: jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.
The dictionary definition of jealousy is envy, resentment, jealousy is the fear of being supplanted, jealousy is bitter in the rivalry—and the thing that disturbs me is that almost in every place where jealousy is mentioned in the bible it declares my God is a jealous God. The only place where jealousy is not referred to as an attribute of God is when it is applied to the jealousy of a man toward a certain woman—there is something in my spirit that will not rest, and will not leave this motion that my God is a jealous God. You see there are a lot of things in this world that are not creations of God, and if you examine them, all of them hurt in some form or another. There is the old saying “He who feels it knows it” and so you will understand what Solomon is speaking about.
All of the things that hurt, cause pain, afflicted, and make one miserable, are “not” creations of God—think about it, if God created jealousy, and afflicted himself with it, then he must like to suffer—and suffering is also not a creation of his. You see God is not willing any one of us to suffer, but that we all come to repentance. There is a place for us to hide and that is under the shadows of His wings. Have you ever seen where the young eagles fly? Yes, right under the wings of Mama Eagle.
Jealousy comes with our human nature which the devil gave us at conception, many of us show jealousy as soon as we are able to walk and talk as a child, and it grows on the rest of us as we get older—remember what Jealousy is, it is envy, one thing that is contained in envy is covetousness, I want the thing that you have, I don’t want one like yours, I want the one you have. I want the same office you have and no one else will have that. I, I, I, and no room for any other person. Jealousy is resentment of another because they have something you crave, that you desire—and you would make them a non-person to get it if you could. Hallelujah for this word an hour. Today I will gladly give up what I have and see you carry it. A lawyer said at a well-publicized trial “If it doesn’t fit then you will have to acquit.” He got his wish and today we must wear the office with pride, character and integrity. Anything short is not acceptable.
Raw naked jealousy is an ugly thing, the devil knows this, so he seeks to disguise it in us, but in most cases, we can still see it clearly in most of us—I thought I had grown shockproof, and that nothing much surprise me now, but when I see jealousy in certain folks, I am still shocked and surprised—and every now and then I find jealousy in my own self. Many times we talk about racism and refer to certain groups of people and we fail to see the jealousy in our own lives. the simple things we covet and pride ourselves against others. We allow ourselves to be used by others and execute their plans; only to find out that the devil is using us.
That’s why I am serious about us going to Paradise/ Hades before we go to heaven, there is stuff in us that makes us unlike the angels and the host of heaven, and moreover, we are not going to get rid of it before we die, and some of us are not even trying. Some of us have done some work on ourselves, and some have done a whole lot, but we still have some stuff left that we cannot take to heaven with us. I urge you to fix it now and let God do the transformation for you.
One of the things that disturbs me is that many preachers now have turned away from teaching us to work on the residue of our sins but to look out for number one, you ought to have that house, that car, that job, that boat, that wardrobe, the position, that office, never mind that those threads only cover your bones and not your spirit. My brothers and sisters the natural things are only for a moment and they will pass away. I have never seen anyone who passes through this life take anything with them to the grave far less heaven.
As I said, the devil has to disguise the jealousy, the envy, the resentment that he has set up in you—so he seeks to make it appear that you dislike certain folks because they are unrighteous, that they are ungodly, you resent certain folks because they don’t use what they have in a way that you approve of—and still others seemed to have gotten what you should have had. Seek the Kingdom of heaven and all other things will be added unto you.
Now, look at how convoluted that is, first God is accused of being a jealous God—and by inference, if God can be jealous, so can you—but the text says that jealousy is as cruel as the grave, “God cruel? “ The coals of jealousy are coals of fire, which has a most vehement fire; this is not a creation of God, it is a creation outside of God to make us something other than the children of God
I love you and will always care for you, but the word must be preached in its entirety. Heaven and earth will pass away but the word of God will be forever. God bless and have a wonderful day.
