Guided by His Eminence, Archbishop and Presiding Prelate Sir Andres B. Quow
In the shifting tides of culture and the storms of personal crisis, the human heart craves an unchanging point of reference, a fixed truth upon which to secure itself. We find this not in a philosophy, but in a Person. The writer of Hebrews gives us this glorious assurance: “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf.” (Hebrews 6:19-20).
His Eminence, Sir Andres B. Quow, powerfully expounds on this imagery. An anchor does not eliminate the storm, but it holds the vessel fast, preventing it from being dashed upon the rocks or driven out to sea. Our hope in Christ functions in the same way. This hope is not a vague wish, but a confident expectation based on the finished work of Christ. It is firm because He is faithful; it is secure because it is tied not to our fluctuating feelings, but to the unshakable throne of God in the heavenly sanctuary.

This means that when your emotions are a tempest, when your mind is filled with doubts, and when your circumstances scream of chaos, your soul can remain steadfast. Your stability is not based on your ability to hold on to God, but on His covenant promise to hold on to you. He is the forerunner who has already gone before us, securing our eternal destiny. Because He is there, we are forever connected to the Father. No storm of life can sever that cord.
Therefore, when the winds of adversity blow, cast your anchor deep into the truth of God’s Word and the reality of His presence. Your soul is not adrift. It is moored to the Rock of Ages. Let this certainty be your peace. You are held by a love that will not let you go, anchored in a hope that cannot be moved. Be still, and know that your vessel is secure.
Amen.
