‘But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.’ (1 Corinthians 2:9-10)

God has a place prepared for you in life; the discovery of that place comes by revelation. Until you make that discovery and walk in it, you cannot arrive at the glorious destiny God has reserved for you. In God’s plan, not everyone is fashioned to be in business; neither is everyone expected to be in government or ministry. God has a unique plan for each one of us, and our destiny is anchored to that plan. Wherever God has mapped out for you in destiny, is a high calling.

For example, every child of God is a gifted person. As children of God, we have been wired with

• the motivational gift of God (Romans12:6-8),
• the Spiritual gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:1-11),
• the ministry gifts of Christ (Ephesians 4:7-11),

and several other natural talents and skills. Functioning or operating in these gifts and talents is something you discover and appropriate.

Sometimes, unknown to us as children of God, we discover that we are already manifesting a particular gift or talent in some capacity but often we neglect it. This ought not to be. When we notice certain gifts are showing up in our lives, we do well to recognize and receive them appropriately instead of desiring another person’s gift.

• Apostle Paul warned young Timothy never to neglect his gifts (1 Timothy 4:14),
• he also encouraged Timothy to stir into flames his gifts (2 Timothy1:6).

We are all exceptionally gifted by God in different ways. You and I have gifts to share with this world. There’s buried treasure within you, waiting to be discovered (2 Corinthians 4:7).

HINDRANCES TO FULFILLING YOUR DIVINE DESTINY

(1) Procrastination/Negligence (1 Timothy 4:14): Procrastination means to delay doing something that you ought to do. It goes hand-in-hand with negligence which means failure to take enough care over something that you are responsible for. Too often, we procrastinate, neglect or allow negative thoughts and self-doubts to discourage us from chasing our dreams. As a result we are delayed, our gifts go undeveloped, and eventually, we are hindered from fulfilling our destinies.

(2) Disappointments and failures (Psalm 37:23-24, Proverbs 24:16, Micah 7:8): Many times, we allow disappointments and failures to steal our confidence, and again, our treasures remain buried. Failure is not final. Disappointments are not denial. We need to learn how to persevere in the face of failures and disappointments.

(3) Insecurity and Low Self- Esteem (1 Samuel17:11, Matthew10:28, Luke 12:32): Insecurities and low self-esteem can convince us that we have nothing special to offer. Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled” (John 14:1).

(4) Laziness (Proverbs 24:30-34, 12:24, 13:4, Matthew 25:26): In any project or dream that God inspired you to chase, diligence and hard-work are paramount to its fulfilment. Dreams and Visions are like a building we set our mind to build for life. Therefore, we must engage passion, zeal, and perseverance to achieve them. (See Ecclesates10:18). There are many today, who started out well in life with beautiful and great dreams and vision but due to laziness did not go anywhere in life, even what they managed to achieve got decayed and was taken away from them.

(5) Lack of Information and Training (Hosea 4:6): Information is power. Information is the key factor to man’s success in the race of life. Discovering your place in life is not enough. You need to be properly informed about that place. Information is the road-map. Without it, you may get lost in the journey!
