JACHIN AND BOAZ

Sir Godfrey Gregg

Grand Commanding Officer

In many Courts there stand two pillars. These represent the two pillars that were reported to stand in King Solomon’s Temple. One is named Jachin and the other Boaz. Together they remind us of strength and establishment.

Strength is required in our work to make ourselves better, We must be strong as we seek to treat others fairly and with kindness in all of our daily actions as it is not always easy to make such decisions. We must be strong in keeping our commitments, be honest and authentic in our ability when we see them in need and have the ability ‘to assist. We must be strong to keep our commitment to pray for others even as we pray for ourselves.

Establishment comes as a result of strength over time. The longer that we are strong, the more established we become. Over many years of intentional effort at moral and honest living, we establish ourselves as moral leaders in our families and communities. We establish a tradition of doing the right thing that improves our own lives as well as the lives of those around us.

The members of the Mystical Court are reminded of these truths when he sees the twin pillars of Jachin and Boaz in his lodge room.

What commitments have you made and kept lately?
