THE UNSHAKEABLE FOUNDATION

Guided by the Patriarch and Chief Apostle His All Holiness, Sir Darrindel Hoyte-Johnson

My beloved brothers and sisters in faith, in a world that often feels tumultuous and uncertain, where the very ground beneath our feet seems to shift, our souls yearn for a foundation that cannot be moved. We seek an anchor for our souls, a truth that remains constant when everything else is in flux. The wisdom of the ages, as echoed in the teachings of our Patriarch and Chief Apostle, directs us to this eternal truth.

The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Corinthians, provides a profound and enduring image: “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 3:11). This is not merely a theological statement; it is the bedrock of our daily existence. Every other foundation—be it wealth, status, personal achievement, or the approval of others—is inherently unstable. They are like sand, susceptible to the storms of life, economic downturns, personal failures, and changing relationships. But Christ, the Chief Cornerstone, is unyielding, eternal, and sure.

When we build our lives upon this foundation, our perspective on trials changes. We are not immune to the storm, but we are secure within it. The winds may howl, and the rains may fall, but the house built upon the rock stands firm (Matthew 7:24-25). Our faith is not a guarantee of a trouble-free life, but a promise of a life that cannot be ultimately destroyed by trouble. His All Holiness often reminds us that our testimony is forged in the furnace of adversity, and it is there that the strength of our foundation is revealed.

Therefore, let us examine our lives today. Upon what are we building our sense of security, our identity, and our hope? Let us consciously, daily, lay every aspect of our being—our fears, our dreams, our relationships, our work—upon the solid rock of Christ Jesus. In Him, we find not only salvation for eternity but stability for today. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). In a changing world, we are rooted in the Unchanging One. Stand firm, therefore, for your foundation is sure.

Amen.
