ENDURANCE: STANDING WHEN EVERYTHING SAYS FALL

My dear family,

There’s a tree outside my window that’s weathered every storm these forty years—lightning strikes, hurricanes, droughts, and bitter winters. Its trunk bears scars, its branches show where limbs once broke away, but it still stands. Every spring, without fail, it blooms. That tree has taught me everything I need to know about endurance.

Endurance isn’t about being strong enough never to bend. It’s about having roots deep enough to keep standing when everything in you wants to fall. It’s about holding on when your hands are tired, your faith is tested, and you can’t see one step ahead.

I’ve walked through seasons that tested every ounce of my faith. There were days when getting out of bed felt like climbing a mountain. There were nights when I cried myself to sleep, wondering if morning would ever come. There were moments when I questioned everything I believed, when God felt distant and silent, when the weight of leadership and responsibility threatened to crush me.

But here’s what I learned in those wilderness seasons: endurance is built in the valley, not on the mountaintop. When everything is going well, we don’t need endurance—we need it when the diagnosis is bad, when the marriage is struggling, when the finances aren’t stretching, when the children are wayward, when the ministry is hard.

The Bible tells us to “run with endurance the race set before us.” Notice it doesn’t say sprint—it says run, which implies pace, strategy, and long-term commitment. Endurance isn’t about how fast you start but about whether you finish. And finishing doesn’t always mean winning by the world’s standards. Sometimes finishing simply means you didn’t quit when quitting would have been easier.

I’ve also learned that endurance isn’t a solo journey. We need each other. When I couldn’t stand on my own, my sisters in Christ held me up. When my faith wavered, their faith steadied me. When I wanted to give up, their encouragement kept me going. This is why fellowship matters—we endure together.

And let me tell you this truth that I’ve proven time and time again: God is faithful. He doesn’t promise to remove every storm, but He promises to be with us in it. He doesn’t promise life will be easy, but He promises His grace is sufficient. He doesn’t promise we won’t face trials, but He promises we won’t face them alone.

So if you’re in a hard season right now, hold on. The morning is coming. Your breakthrough is closer than you think. Keep standing. Keep believing. Keep trusting. Your endurance is building something beautiful in you that prosperity never could.
