Day 3 – March 18: The Power of Agreement

“Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” – Matthew 18:19

There is a spiritual principle that is often overlooked yet profoundly powerful: the principle of agreement. When two or more believers come together in genuine agreement—not just verbal assent, but heart-level harmony—they unlock a dimension of answered prayer that surpasses individual petition.

The Greek word for “agree” used in this passage is “sumphoneo,” from which we get our word “symphony.” Imagine an orchestra where every musician plays their unique instrument but all follow the same conductor, creating beautiful harmony. This is the picture of agreement in prayer. Different voices, different perspectives, but one unified purpose and one divine conductor—the Holy Spirit.

THE FREEDOM OF FORGIVENESS

Satan understands this principle better than many believers, which is why he works tirelessly to create discord, misunderstanding, and division among God’s people. He knows that a praying church in agreement is a threat to his kingdom. He knows that when we stand together in unified faith, mountains must move, strongholds must crumble, and Heaven must respond.

But agreement requires more than just showing up to the same prayer meeting. It requires laying down personal agendas, surrendering our need to be right, and humbling ourselves before one another. It means forgiving quickly, listening carefully, and trusting that God can speak through any member of the body.

As we continue this fast, let us pursue agreement with the same intensity that we pursue answered prayer. For in truth, they are inseparable.
