CHARGE TO THE CHURCH

Charge to the Clergy and Laity of the Mystical Order of Spiritual Baptist Inc.

Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, clergy and laity of the Mystical Order,

As we gather in this holy assembly, mindful of the sacred trust given unto us, I charge you by the authority vested in me as Patriarch:

To the clergy, I solemnly remind you of your high calling. You are entrusted with the ministry of Word and Sacrament, the nurture and discipline of the flock, and the stewardship of God’s holy mysteries. Preach the Gospel with boldness and purity; teach the truth found in the Scriptures and our sacred traditions; serve with humility and love; be vigilant against falsehood and discord; and support one another in holiness and brotherly affection. Your life must be a beacon that reflects the light of Christ to all.

THE ENDURANCE OF PERSEVERANCE

To the laity, you are the beloved members of the Body of Christ, called to live your faith daily and to bear witness through your words and deeds. Support your pastors and leaders with prayers, respect, and obedience within the fellowship of the Spirit. Use your gifts to build up the Church; love one another sincerely; and reach out in compassion to the needy and the lost. Remember that the work of the Spirit empowers every believer, and together you are the foundation upon which the Mystical Order stands.

Together, clergy and laity walk in unity and peace, bearing one another’s burdens, encouraging one another in faith and good works. Stand firm in the traditions that have been handed down, and be open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit for the challenges of our day. Maintain a steadfast commitment to holiness, justice, and the proclamation of God’s Kingdom until our Lord comes again.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God the Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you always.
