HH, Sir Godfrey Gregg D.Div
“Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:4).
You will never get a humble heart until it is born from above, from the heart of Christ. For man has lost his own humanity and alas, too often has a demonic heart. Oh, yes the heart of man is very wicked and deceitful and God wants to work on it today. Truly no one knows the heart of man except our God.
God wants us, as Christians, to be simple, human, approachable and childlike. The Christians that we know and love best, and that is nearest to the Lord, are the most simple.
Whenever we grow stilted we are only fit for a picture gallery, and we are only good on a pedestal; but, if we are going to live among men and love and save them, we must be approachable and human. All stiffness is but another form of self-consciousness. Too many Christians have reduced themselves to church members. Literally have taken Christ out of Christians and left with nothing to show for all their effort. They have become puff-up with pride and hostility simply having a form of godliness and the power has been denied.
Ask Christ for a human heart, for a smile that will be as natural as your little child’s in your presence. Oh, how much Christ did by little touches! He never would have got at the woman of Samaria if He had come to her as the prophet. You see there are times you leave the titles and be yourself so people can see your purpose visiting them.
He sat down, a tired man, and said: “Give me a drink of water.” And so, all through His life, it was His simple humanness and love that led Him to others and led them to Him and to His great salvation. There is a work that God wants us to do but we have so much to give up and that is causing a problem. All that God is asking for is your heart and He promises you to have a Kingdom. You are already kings and priest unto God. Hallelujah, what a Saviour. Today let us go forward in peace to accomplish the things that God called us to.
