1 Kings Chapter 8
1 Kings Chapter 8 is about the Ark being brought to the temple built by Solomon. He summoned the presence of all the leaders of Israel to Jerusalem. He told them to bring the Ark of the Covenant from Zion to the city of David. This was during the seventh month, the time of the festival which was celebrated during the month of Ethanim.
They brought the Ark to the Sanctuary in the Most Holy Place. As soon as the priests left this place, the cloud filled the temple of the Lord. The priests were not able to perform their service because of this cloud. This meant that the temple was filled with the glory of the Lord.

Giving Thanks for the Temple
While the entire assembly was gathered there, the king blessed them. He gave thanks and glory to the Lord for fulfilling what was promised. He said that the Lord has been faithful to them, since the day he brought them out of Egypt. He says that David had it in his heart to build a temple for the Lord, however, he was not able to. Instead, the Lord promised that his son will be able to build a temple in the name of the Lord, God of Israel.
Solomon said a prayer of dedication while standing before the altar. He did this in front of the entire assembly with his hands spread towards heaven. He praised the Lord for being faithful to them and for fulfilling his promise. He said that the Lord has given his people rest, and for this, they will obey the decrees and commandments given to them.
Offering Sacrifices to God
After this, the king, and everyone in Israel offered sacrifices to the Lord. Solomon offered a sacrifice of fellowship before the Lord in this temple, while observing the festival. The entire population of Israel celebrated with him.
