Lord, we are more than thankful to you for all your goodness to us. We praise you O, Lord for blessing us in every area of our lives. My brothers and sisters wake up and thank the Lord for all you have received at His hands.
Our reading for this morning is taken from the book of Proverbs 19:28-29
28 An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.
29 Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools.
The Bible speaks much about judgment. In these verses, we are told that ungodly witnesses care only for their own gain. They will send the innocent to jail if it profits them. Such people feed upon sinful and iniquitous ideas. They are deluded to believe that they will not face the results of their sins, scoffing at justice and judgment.
Judgments are prepared for scoffers, not believers. Disobeying God brings sorrow and death. The Lord knew that all people would fall into sin; however, He sent Jesus Christ into this world to make a way of escape for us from hell and death. Jesus, who committed no sin or crime went to the cross to die in our place. He paid the penalty for our sins so that we would not have to. Death and hell have no power over any who repent and turn to Christ. When we make Jesus Lord of our lives, we are promised eternal life. Christ has freed us to live for Him and to tell others about His wonderful plan of redemption.
In ancient times, scoffers were publicly beaten and received stripes. Proud fools will suffer painful punishments in life, as well as hell in eternity. If we will humble ourselves, ask for God’s forgiveness, and turn our lives over to Him, we can have peace and joy. We can walk in the Spirit of life daily. We can experience heaven now on this earth, where there is so much hell around us. When we have the Creator of heaven and earth living in our hearts, our eyes are opened to the truth, and we can experience the depths of His love. God loves each of us and has a mighty plan for all who allow Him to rule their lives.
Someone once asked me what I had given up to serve Christ. I replied, “I did not give up anything that was not already killing me! In Christ, I am promised heaven for hell, health for sickness, joy for sorrow, peace for torment, faith for fear, love for hate, release from addictions, and all blessings instead of evil curses.” What a wonderful exchange! After I made a total commitment to God, I never looked back to my old life. The old man is dead and I am a new creature in Christ, praise God! My old way of life cannot compare to my life in Christ. If you do not know Jesus as your SavioUr, it is my prayer that you will allow Him to write your name in His Book of Life.
Let us pray
Dear heavenly Father, I am so thankful that my name is written in the Book of Life, and I pray that all who read these words will allow You to write their name in that same book if it is not already recorded there. Lord, I thank you for Your sacrifice on the cross. I did not deserve it, but I am eternally grateful for Your love for me. Lord, help me to daily be obedient to You and follow Your will for my life. Help me to overcome the desires of my flesh and to always choose the way of life in You. May I always have the courage to share with others what You have done for me. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
