Let’s look at how seriously the writers of Scripture viewed prayer. My brothers and sisters in the Lord and The Mystical order thanking God for another day on the land of the living. We are to offer our prayers and thanks to Almighty God and thank Him for all the benefits and goodness to us. Prayer is so important to us that we must be aware of the purpose of this prayer and how we make it a part of our life. Many writers have different versions but we want to stay with the record in the Holy Writ.
In the eighth chapter of the book of Revelation, John describes a scene in heaven after the seals have been broken on the scrolls that tell the story of human sin and violence and God’s judgment. Then a remarkable thing happens. John writes that “there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.” During this time an angel with a golden censer comes to the altar and offers much incense, which is a representation of prayers arising from earth: Who are in the earth? I believe the saints who represent heaven are the one represented here. The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, went up before God from the angel’s hand. The smoke of incense represents the ascension of our prayers. So when you see incense burning think of it that there is a praying soul sending up petitions to heaven on our behalf.
Following this come great acts of judgment on the earth, pictured by rumbles of thunder, flashes of lightning, and great earthquakes. (Did I say earthquakes? Think of the activities taking place in the Caribbean). But what is most striking is that these acts come in response to the prayers of the saints. My brothers and sisters of The Mystical Order you are part of this heavenly response when you pray and moreso stay before God in constant prayer. Prayer is your chief lifeline that will cause actions.
Usually we think of events on earth being interrupted because of actions taken in heaven. However, here it is the other way around. All of heaven comes to a standstill. Hallelujah and I am only touching the surface. The endless songs and praises of heavenly hosts suddenly stop. Why? Because someone is praying. All of heaven stops so the prayers of the saints, your prayers and mine, every one of them can rise before God. They are heard. They matter. Today no one wants to stop for a moment of prayer, they are too busy with their own operations, attitude or behaviour and no time for a moment of prayer.
In the realm of grace, the word deserve does not even apply. Prayers of real human beings, like you and me, children of The Mystical Order interrupt heaven. Pray until the dark clouds withdraw and give rise to the exercise of your faith in the Word of God. People applause for lies spoken from the pulpit (a holy sanctuary). You listen the recordings and for friendship people lie to stay in the spot light. I tell you that one day God is going to bring them down and the last state of such man is worst than the first.
And what happens next on earth happens because people pray. “History belongs to the intercessors, those who believe and pray the future into being.” History does not belong to the powerful, or the wealthy, or the rulers, or the armies, or the corporations, or social media, or the global media empires. What they do on their own, apart from God, may look impressive for a time. But the day will come when all merely human actions will be tossed, forgotten, on the ash heap of the dead past. History belongs to the intercessors, to those who believe and pray the future into being.
Interceding is what Jesus is doing now: “It is Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us.” His teaching ministry lasted three years. His intercessory ministry has been going on for two thousand. So from me to you what are you doing with your ministry? Are you willing to join the intercessory team and pray for your community, family and church? Here God is calling and offering His grace and mercy to you. Accept it before it is too late.
The Bible’s teaching on prayer leads overwhelmingly to one conclusion: Prayer changes things and you get results.
