“What does the Bible say about lying?”

This is my answer and I will be short and to the point. My brothers and sisters in Christ our God change not and His words are TRUTH. The Bible is clear that lying is a sin and is displeasing to God. The first sin in this world involved a lie told to Eve. The serpent’s approach to Eve was to test her on the Scriptures, and he was very good at convincing her to believe his side of the event. Even though she quoted the word to him in the text as she received it, she still fall from the lack of guidance. The Ten Commandments given to Moses includes “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor” (Exodus 20:16).

In the early church, Ananias and Sapphira lied regarding a donation in order to make themselves look more generous than they really were. This same lie is prevalent among the church as to what they give and didn’t give. Some people haven’t given a single cent to help the ministry and will love to speak about giving. This is the sad thing that a lot of people fall for and believing it is truth. Peter’s rebuke is stern: “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit?” God’s judgment was sterner: the couple died as a result of their sin of lying. I will pick up where Peter left off and continue to ask the same question in a different form. Brethren when did you give to the work of this ministry? How much and to whom? Why have you allowed satan to fill your hearts to lie to the people of God so they can turn away from the truth and the beaten path. I tell you that God will bring you into judgement for lying. Without the facts you are worst than Ananias and Sapphira.

Colossians 3:9 says, “Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices.” Many people lie with a smile and straight face and one day my brothers and sisters the truth will come to light. I believe what is done in darkness will be revealed one day, and that day many will wish they were not born. The statistic of the job we do will tell the full story. You and I have been the subject of lies and we have overcome. It is even harder when the people you fellowship with are the perpetrators of the lies. Lying is listed in 1 Timothy 1:9-11 as something practiced by the lawless. Furthermore, liars will be among those judged in the end (Revelation 21:8). In contrast, God never lies (Titus 1:2). He is the source of truth. “It is impossible for God to lie” (Hebrews 6:18).

Jesus called Himself the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6), and He expects those who follow Him to be people of truth. The truth is to be expressed in love (Ephesians 4:15), offering hope to those seeking redemption from the lies of the world. I encourage you to take stock of your life and your language. It is plain out bad and wrong to lie on the innocent, but when you do against your Elders is another thing. May Almighty God have mercy on us all in the Name of Jesus Christ.
